With this book, Eric Tamm takes one of the deepest looks ever put to paper about an electronic musician. Tamm’s book, Brian Eno: His Music and the Vertical Color of Sound , is divided into two main sections. The first is a review of Brian Eno and his work in the context of modern music. This looks at both his role in the world of popular music and where he fits in the world of “art” music. It also looks at his background, influences, working methods, and the ideas that infuse his work.... Topic: Brian Eno

in november of this year i recorded a song called "funky afternoon". i was quite happy with it, and felt it would be fun to remix it. using only the last 45 seconds of the song, i slowed it down and changed most of the instrumentation and effects. the result was "slow fish 1", which certainly bears little resemblance to the original. feeling there was more to explore, i remixed the remix...which eventually resulted in five different remixes. #'s 1 through 4 sound similar... An example of what they call in the TV biz a "bottle" show, in other words, sometimes I'm just going to play a classic record or two All the Way Through. In this case, it is the first collaboration album between Brian Eno and Moebius and Roedelius ( Cluster ), a very lovely and super-minimalist affair. The second half hour brings excerpts from their second lp, which contains a couple of my favorite Eno vocal efforts. They lived and ate together in a country house while they played and... The legendary perspicacity of composer, artist, and producer Brian Eno was everywhere evident in his February 26, 1988 appearance before a sold out audience at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater, in San Francisco, as part of the San Francisco Exploratorium’s Speaking of Music series, hosted by Charles Amirkhanian.
